Sunday Brunch

This morning consisted of waking up later than usual....coffee of course ;) ...and then some brunch with the family...those are always my favorite days! I decided to go for a punkier..more fun look with my makeup and top...this is the blondie top I debuted back when this blog was still in its beginnings...The belt was thrifted and is adorned with a bunch of tiny studs...who knew $2 could make me oh so happy...yes thats how much it cost me...
The lipstick im wearing is Lavendar Whip by MAC and is a pink/purple-ish color.... oh and guess who was wearing the same Wilfred batwing cardi as me at the diner? My cousins gf....thats what happens when you shop at Aritzia! haha.....

Pink Slip

I have been wearing so much black lately, its spring, the weather is getting nicer slowly but surely and its about time I break out of this black and grey rut! So I decided to bring some color into my life ...full on....and here it is....I wanted to mix patterns so I have the floral tights and the pastel, 80s sort of childhood vibin' shirt. The blazer is a perfect fit that I found out thrifting months ago...really girly and has a barbie vibe to it ...which is why I added the studded belt :P...and check out the toe cleavage....I totally got my bf into it.....well on me...not himself...haha

XOX
Blazer: Vintage
Shirt: Vintage
Belt: Thrifted
Skirt: AA
Tights: H&M
Shoes: Vintage
P.s. These are the products I used today....Loreal Voluminous is my new fave mascara next to lash blast...guys if there is one product you can skimp on and not spend much on...its mascara...there is no need to spend $30 on a mascara....unless you really want to...:P..Brushes are a good investment however...my fave is the MAC 109...for cheaper versions...check out your local craft store...paint brushes made of natural fibers can work just as well!!
oh and random fact BUT......did you know as of yesterday him and I have been dating for 6 years and 10 months.....almost hitting 7!! Time flies but I would never have had it any other way...yes, we still count the months :P....

Questions Answered!

You guys really had some great questions and I had fun doing this....so here goes....

what size are you? and what do you do to stay in shape?
- I do not have a diet regimen although I do try to eat fairly healthy...I also go to the gym with my bf whenever I have time. No cardio, just strictly weight training....sometimes we do a 15 minute cardio work out and then sweat it off some more in the sauna ...great way to relax

If you had a choice to shop in only one store for the rest of your life what would it be?and why?
- I would def have to say Zara just because of the wide variety of items that are pretty good quality and decent prices for their items. Although you all know I love thrifting....this def would not work as you cannot go in there with something specific in mind....its a treasure hunt and to be honest....that would get boring and frustrating after a while!

What is the most expensive item (shoes, clothing, accessories) you've ever purchased?
- My gucci purse ....also a partial gift from my mama...we bought it on sale

How many pairs of shoes do you own?
- about 65 and thats because I used to work at a shoe store (50% off!) and a lot of the others are vintage

What was the last thing you bought for yourself, where and why did you buy it?
-Biosilk silver shampoo for my blonde hair at Winners for $8 because I needed it...my hair turns a yucky brassy color if I dont use it every now and then.

Where in the city do you love shopping the most?
- Queen street

can you recommend some good vintage or even consignment shops in toronto?
- I am no good for this because I mostly thrift shop but occasionally I pass by the different vintage shops on Queen....but to be honest I do not like most of them and I find the items are marked up crazily most of the time...If you check out BlogTO they have lists of stores they recommend in Toronto

Are you going to do a Vlog?
- I have tried and failed. The vids I take on my webcam do not seem to upload :s

where is your favourite thrift store?
- I like the one in Missisauga (dont know the exact location:s) but not many people go there so its not as picked over

What is your dream bag?
- Definately a large quilted Chanel.....not going to happen! and I could not bring myself to spend so much on a purse but I do like to dream ;)...for now I'll stick with my vintage thrifted version which I love to little peices.

how many times have you changed your hair? do you ever regret it? do you regret cutting it short?
- Oh the changing faces of my hair !! I have gone blonde, brunette with blonde highlights, dirty Xtina hair phase in highschool, black, and dark brown. I have never tried red, not my style. I do not regret cutting it short because I like change and it reflects my personality however...I wish I could add some crazy growth serum to get it to the length I want faster! haha....

What are you studying in school? What career path do you want to embark once graduating?
- I am studying life sciences in so I have done all the basics such as calculus, chem, anatomy, physio, and a bunch of cellular micro level analysis courses...and sociology...focusing on health and illness =) . Possibly a technical job (im keeping it very general) so I would apply for more schooling for that ... and other options but I am not going to get into that on my blog!

fave nail colour? brand? do you co-ordinate with your outfit? or mood?
- OPI is my fave brand and my fave color is Got a Date to-Knight although it is a rare day when you will see me sporting nail polish...when and if I do its usually to match my makeup

what qualities annoy you most in other humans?
- snobbiness/people who think they are better than others..not cool

where is the park a few posts down?how often do you and your boyfriend hang out? (ie x per week?)
- etobicoke and we hang out almost everyday and thats mostly because we are practically neighbours :)

how old are you?
- 22 years young ;)

do you plan on moving out of your parents house one day?
- actually probably very soon....le bf and I will be looking into houses when we have a wee little more saved up

what kind of job do you have? where do you work? have you been doing it long?
- I work in customer relations however that is pretty much all I can say on this blog. I really enjoy my job and there is always something new to learn. I have been at my current job for a couple of years.

worst/ most embarrassing job you've ever had?
- Tim Hortins....I hated it....and I smelled like donuts by the time I got home...but it was my first and I liked getting a paycheck...

where do you buy your designer (ie habitual) jeans? were they full retail price? how do you decide when to splurge and when to save?
- My jeans are from Winners and I think they were $50....regularly these retail for about $200 I think...I never pay retail for jeans....I dont really splurge and most of the items I buy are on sale however, I think shoes and purses are where I would spend more money if I had to choose. Definately.....I am not a fan of plastic .... It also depends on my financial sitution ...

Fave underground and undiscovered places to shop at other than VV and kensington etc. ?
- well I would be lying if I said that I had others apart from the ones you mentioned...but when I have more time...Ill see what I can dig up for you guys in the summer because it seems I have quite a few toronto readers ;)

Fave restaurant: Mistura ! My bf took me there on our anniversary and I have loved it ever since..pricey though so just for occasions and also Sushi on Bloor. I LOVE sushi.....

can you suggest fun date ideas? what do you and your boyfriend do for fun since youve been dating so long? is it hard to keep from falling into a boring hang out at home rut? or do you go out all the time? how do you keep up with the expense in that case?
- We go out in groups a lot so its NEVER boring....generally when we have time in the summer, we like to go to the lake (picnic sort of thing), we LOVE to rent movies and just chill in the comfort or our home eating popcorn and ice cream (that never gets old...plus, cuddling while watching a movie is always fun!) ...we go rollerblading when weather permits down by lakeshore, the ROM on fridays is half price but we generally would not go more than once a year....first date places like CN tower for us is always fun and a cute way to "revisit" the past....we go for coffee a lot and then sushi afterwards...usually a cheap date because the coffees are about $7 together and we split a sushi appetizer for about $15....I will see if I can do a post soon about cool places to visit in toronto if you are interested..these are just some of the things WE do....
we generally do not spend a lot on going out....but we do like to go on vacation in the winter once a year,....if work permits and THAT gets expensive...

What do I know about Croatia?
- they have a pretty good soccer team? I am not a fan of geography or history so...not much! ....def a question I would not have anticipated!

Who was in that 40's movie and what was the plot?
- Dont know any of the actors but it was about a group of young women who had a mother that was preoccupied with getting them all married off to wealthy men and a father who just wanted them to be happy. It was predictable....girl likes boy..boy is rich....mother of boy does not like girl bc not up to her standards....boy falls in love with her...she rejects him...realizes this was a mistake....they end up together.....everyone is happy...actually I think the plot and characters were situated in a 20-30s era....it was in black and white ..

what is your ethnic background?
Portuguese and part British

Questions ....shoot them to me!!

Ive had emails regarding how I do my hair, what I use on my skin (previous post), where I like to shop, how I find such great deals etc.... WELL ...if you have any questions SHOOT THEM TO ME NOW....I will post answers to the questions you have in a next post.....just dont ask me where I live, or to pose with nude feet for you ...because believe it or not...I have had both those requests ....and be respectful please! Anyways.......Its Sunday...yay...I just finished watching a movie from the 40s with my mom while eating blue cheese (you know I love cheese), toast and coffee....its too bad I have no idea what it was called :*( ...it was really wonderful....I also blow dried my hair today! as you can see from picture two....usually I just sleep on it wet and wake up ...Also I had a question regarding my Colin Stuart booties in the first picture: I love the way they look on my feet however they are not practical at all...I know fashion does not always have to be practical BUT at the same time...you dont want to be walking in the mall and risk spraining your ankle for the sake of beauty! I wear them when I dont need to walk around much...also, I was asked about the price....welll I bough them AWHILE ago...AND because im canadian ....well...I get pretty much ripped off on shipping...I think they were $140. Lastly..the necklace beside the flowers....$2 at a thrift shop...precious metal elephants and its a choker ..whats not love?!

Skincare Products.....for you Lola ;)

As per request by one of my lovely readers .... I am doing a skin care post which I thought would be fun to do...

First off, Tea Tree Oil face wash by the body shop is a must for me. It helps prevent breakouts, disinfects and does not agitate my skin :) ...I use it every night after I have washed off any makeup that I may have been wearing throughout the day.
I ALWAYS remove makeup before going to bed...to do this I use an eye make up remover with the little white cleansing pads which cost about a dollar (buy them at dollarama..even cheaper than walmart!)...you can also use baby oil which I will try once this runs out.
After I was removed my makeup and clansed my face with the face wash I ALWAYS moisturize..this is a must! I use the Light Regenerating Night Care cream by Nivea (just looking at my grandmothers skin who is 75 will convert you to Nivea as well :P...she looks amazing!...maybe I will post a picture....). After that, I use an eyecream which is the Olay Anti-wrinkle eye cream and retails for about $10 I think? I really like this one because it dries fast and absorbs well.

For the mornings:
I use either Nivea Simply Glowing if I feel my skin needs a little kick ....OR my Vitamin E cream by the body shop for regular days - this one NEVER makes me breakout! If I wear foundation I like to use the BareVitamins skin Rev-er upper underneath which you can find at Sephora

Lastly, every couple of weeks....I usually use one of the Biore deep cleansing pore strips on my nose
My grandmother is 75 years old and this picture was just taken recently....she has been using Nivea skin cream and eyecream for about 50 years and to be honest.....she does not have that many wrinkles....she always kept telling me to use the cream....now I listen....now that I can understand its benefits....when you are young you usually dont start thinking about preventative measures

Soaking in the Sun

What a beautiful day it is today! Do you know how hard it is to stay in and work on a research assignment when I look out my window...and have the sun teasing me to come out and play?! I am going to class soon and decided that since weather is permitting I can finally wear a skirt sans opaque tights ....and of course, I have a green shirt stashed in my bag because le Bf and I will probably be going bar hopping for some green St Patty's day beer ;) .... and thought I would share a peaceful pic of peeks (My dog maxie...his nickname is peeks..haha..) in his sleep...He is a lazy ass...

Lazy Sundays and MAC Mineralize

The day started off with a lavendar vanilla bubble bath and then Le Bf, peeks (my dog) and I went for a drive and out to the park for a little stroll. Grabbed a coffee, chatted about finnances ..haha..graduation, life in general, some serious stuff, then got down to business. That being studying! It was a gorgeous day today...I dont understand this weather, we go from in the negatives to plus 10 the next day....mother nature has been playing funny tricks :P....I also wanted to let you guys know about a couple new products that I think are really great and am wearing today. First off, if you are looking for a nice eyebrow kit and dont feel like spending $35 for one (i.e. The benefit one at Sephora...it IS really nice) then try out the wet n' wild Ultimate brow kit. I found the quality of the powder to be pretty much identical. Although the little tweezer is a little crappy, its ok...its only for emergencies anyways ..and for $5 im more than satisfied! I have also ditched my MAC reguar pressed powder for the MAC mineralize Natural in Medium Plus...give you a gorgeous glow and is pretty much fool proof....you can use it over regular foundation to set it too if you wear that. The paint pot by MAC in Painterly is also great for a natural look (its a beige color) and works to cover veins and even out your eyelid ..and if yours are anything like mine...then this is a savior....its also a great primer ...

anyways, enough about that ...dont forget to sign up for my give away ....here here here here!!!!

Urban Behavior

Lately, like i've mentioned before..I've been impressed with UB...Where else could I find a Wang inspired look for a grand total of $20? The skirt was $10 and I like it better than my AA one! I think the fit is a lot nicer and more flattering. I included the last shot so you guys can see the huge loose pocket decorating the front of the shirt :) ...in love, and the color is a soft pinky beige (I dont have any other clothing items in this sort of color). I think it will be perfect for spring...the leather belt is vintage and I picked it up a while ago for $2 I think? This look would be totally wearable now as well in this chillier weather with some black tights and a cute cardi or loose sweater. P.s. I tried uploading a video log yesterday and was unsuccessful...I had kept it under 100 MGs as a test post and it just never loaded :( ......sorry guys..I tried ...if you have any tips or suggestions shoot them at me in my comments section!

Creme shadows

So I decided to try out one of the new wet n' wild creme stick eyeshadows that I posted yesterday (I wore the dark grey one) and loved the way it came out! I basically colored my lid up to the crease and then blended the harsh lined with my fingertip ...I found it worked better than using a brush and on top put some grey shmering mineral powder to sort of set it and give it a more luxurious look. Def spiced up my boring old grey oversized thrifted sweater look :P ....

Sunday Morning...

Dont mind my morning face....haha....I literally woke up....ran off to wal-mart to buy some meds for mama and some creme shadesticks for myself (last pic)....the colors are SO vibrant and blendable...I love them...they are new and are by Wet n Wild (I normally dont like this brand) and cost only $2! Check them out for yourself...I was impressed..and I picked up some face cream by Nivea (light regenerating night care) because im on a budget and chose to go with the $8 cream rather than my usual $25 cream....the tights...now lets move on to the tights....Wanderlusting from Anywhere But Here sent them to me and I LOVE them...they are so unique and are def topic of conversation! Thanks again girlie for these...they will be put to good use ;).....well enough procrastinating and back to studying ...... Happy Sunday!

Seems like the blogging world ....and well the world in general just can't get enough! Why does this style dress keep popping up everywhere now? I swear, I have had this style in my head as a wedding dress for the longest time.....what can I say other than...great minds :P ....hmmm I also remember the post a couple days ago where I posted a shot of one of Christian Siriano's designs...now his shoe inspiration was clearly Rodarte...now this design begs the question....was it the chicken or the egg? Maybe Im just looking too deep into it......lets all just enjoy

Grad Photos

Sorry for the crappy resolution of these photos...This is what I had to work with...there were actally 10 photos all together but im leaning towards the 1st and the 4th although they all pretty much look the same....haha...let me know what you guys think..the packages are between $200 and $550! :s.....you would think they would have a wee little sympathy considering most students are already $40,000 in the hole upon graduating....
Second set of pics are le Bfs (and of course...my fave picture is missing...)....we are enrolled at different universities but still took a "couples" shot together at his school ...with no extra sitting fees...wow...thought they might milk that one too....that one is my fave <3

P.s. Which shot of John (le Bf...) do you guys like better? The first or the third?

Its a crazy journey and its all just whizzing by...I need to find a way to freeze time ..just a little...I am excited though ;)
