Some last shots from NYC

2IMG_44601

So these will be the last shots that kind of show what I was wearing….to be honest, the weather was not the greatest so I wore pants and my black Kenneth Cole boyfriend blazer most of the time..and a hat to help ward off the rain! I picked up these pants at a shop that I think was called Mystique or something like that in Soho and as you can see, I could not wait to wear them the next day (same goes for the new Topshop purse) :P… My feet were killing me because…well…believe it or not….Docs may not be the most comfortable shoes to walk around in for 7 hours! So here I am wearing Urban Outfitters runners that totally clashed but I guess that's why I also kind of love them.

I loved NYC but am glad to be back… It is such a crazy city that it doesn't matter what time of the day it is whether it be 9am, 12pm, 3am ….there are people EVERYWHERE and whatever they are on….I want it…I'm guessing red bull? coffee? haha….just so much energy! I can only imagine what it must be like, trying to get to work everyday in the big city….I do kind of miss it though. Last shot was taken in Times Square and this was one of my favourite spots…it was just amazing to be able to sit back and relax with my ice cream cone and McDs coffee (which I would not recommend by the way :P) and just take in the hustle and bustle while still somewhat remaining in my own peaceful little bubble…Loved being able to sit smack in the middle of chaos and just sit back..we stayed there for about an hour just relaxing, talking and eating.

Well its back to work and off to Oregon on my business trip in another week! So here I am unpacking but…will soon be packing once again…just this time it will be even tougher because I need to pack a proper “work wardrobe””. Obviously, I need to bring attire that is quite different from what you see on my blog so I don't even know if I will really post…Maybe a couple little posts :P

NYC TopShop

21 3 4 5

Hey dudes…. so thought I would post again since we are back in the hotel and have a couple hours to spare…man is this city BUSY! Its tiring believe it or not and really, I don't think I would be able to last more than a few days in NYC…11 USD per half hour to park?! No wonder everyone uses public transit and taxis…that's nuts! We passed by Topshop and I picked up a leather purse…its the one I'm holding in the third picture…didn't end up getting the shoes because unfortunately, I don't think they were very flattering on me…and I really wanted them to be :( ….Also didn't get any of the clothes because I found much of it to be way overpriced but it was a lot of fun to shop around nevertheless…J and I have been spending most of our money on food …which to me is a lot more important then a $70 cotton shirt at the moment ;) ….Also wanted to say thank you to Emily for coming up to me to say hello =)…never had one of my readers spot me out before!

So far the experience has been awesome (other than the rain...its has been raining a lot here...good thing we came prepared with HUGE umbrellas ;)... Today we'll most likely visit Central Park and the Statue of Liberty...can't wait! We have visited most of the other attractions in NY already...

P.s. If you ever go to TopShop and are a student, bring your student ID card because you get an extra 10% off which is pretty sweet. I forgot mine =(

In a New York Minute

IMG_4308 IMG_4225 IMG_4294

We have arrived =) Packing was a little tough because I had to be very selective...and stuck with three pairs of shoes..one pair of heels, docs and my runners. The suitcase was a recent Winners find....its from Samonites Ltd Ed Fashioniste line and was marked down from a $160 sale tag to $40 (even further reduced!)...I needed a smaller carry on and loved the print....caught my eye immediately....will work perfectly for my business trip too! J brought his laptop and we have internet included so thought I would do a quick little post! We arrived in the afternoon, grabbed a bite to eat (sushi ..mmmm), watched a movie, and walked around in Soho for a bit …very interesting street fashion here … Love it and tons of cool little shops with funky jewellery and knick knacks… Tomorrow is when the real fun begins…we will be doing a lot of sight seeing, and of course, a little bit of shopping :P. Well I'm off to bed because we have a busy day ahead of us tomorrow..XOX

Uncle Karl

IMG_4214IMG_4189IMG_4182 IMG_4196 IMG_4201

Third shot you can REALLY see the crazy blue nail colour…one problem, it totally stains your nails :S … I practically bathed my fingertips in acetone and they still have a blue tinge to them!

Stopped by the bank today after work to convert some cash into American dollars ..exchange rate was actually pretty good =) … just waiting around for J so that we can go do some last minute shopping for travel essentials (and yes, this includes a mini stack of magazines to keep me occupied on the way there :P). One day and we are off to NY!

Almost forgot, today I saw the funniest thing..this sweet tiny old little lady on the bus wearing a kerchief wrapped around her head with marijuana symbols all over it! She must have thought they were just pretty green leaves…. I just smiled.

Lastly, I have been surfing the Topshop site to no end and have decided that I NEED, and I mean NEEEED to get my hands on a pair of leather brogues! They are all just so awesome…put the Aldo ones I was lemming over to shame….Hope to get my hands on a pair in size 7.5 – Fingers crossed!

Top: K by Karl Lagerfeld, Sequin Leggings: H&M (These were the ones they featured in many ads…great price at $25), Bag: Vintage, Shoes: Stuart Weitzman, Rings: Vintage and Grams gifted to me

The Sun is Smiling

IMG_4120 IMG_4125 IMG_4138IMG_4131

Spent some time with the little brother today, took a walk and ate at Mickie D’s…J has been working on his roof top deck outside his room all day…we met up later for a break and went to grab some coffee and just relax a little bit in the park…

I don’t know if you can really tell but I painted my nails this crazy blue colour…still debating over whether I like it or not … brought out the red lips (Wet n’ Wild and Rimmel make my favourite reds)… You will probably be seeing a lot more red lips because when I love something, I will tend to over do it for a little while (just look at how many times I have work my studded Zara’s ….haha). I am also back into my extensions because of course, my hair is growing at an extremely glacial pace..I wish I had miracle seeds for my scalp to make it grow quicker :P… I still have not had the time to make new ones (longer and blonder) but as promised, when I do, I will post a little tutorial…

The shoes Docs were thrifted just yesterday and let me tell you how ecstatic I was! I have been surfing online for a used pair for ever and found this perfect pair for $7…technically it was all thanks to J ….I had to return a shirt I had bought him at Value Village that he hated and had to pick out something because they don't do refunds…well I found these baby's…and just in time for fall!

The Social

IMG_4100

Tonight was pretty much a random night that consisted of ice cream on College street with some friends…then after stuffing our faces with bacio ice cream with nutella crepes…we made our way down to one of my favourite parts of the city which is Queen street… Went to Wrongbar which was a little dead…This dude that looked about 40 tried to pick me up… I could see the annoyance in J’s look… poor guy ended up on the floor and getting arrested at the end of the night :s…I think he tried pulling the same lines on another dude’s gf and I guess it just didn't work in his favour… (we were there at about 11:30pm)…then left and went to The Social which was free cover..grabbed a few beers, danced ..and ended back up at Wrongbar again…the music and atmosphere was a lot better at the end of the night….late night Jamaican roti and beef patty’s and here I am at home…still wired from the coffees that we drank with our ice cream…its 2:30am and I am not the least bit tired :s….so thought I’d show you guys what I wore..I didn't think we would go to club/bar but the outfit worked out…could never go wrong with cut offs and heels! I got compliments on the Karl shirt ;)

Shorts: thrifted?, Shoes: Zara (trying to get as much wear as I can before Fall hits), Shirt: K by Karl Lagerfeld (this is the one! I love it), vintage gucci bag, OPI nail polish in Sweet as Annie Thing, thrifted bracelets

Electric Feel

CN_Tower_struck_by_lightning

J and I planned on going out after work, maybe grabbing a bite and taking some photos. That idea was killed as I was riding the bus home , the sky turned almost white (no rain and just lightning)…then it started to POUR! I came prepared wearing my MJ rain boots but that didn't stop me from getting completely soaked… standing at the bus stop and wouldn't you know it…another car flies by what appeared to be a pool of water on the street and …you know the rest (oh and I was wearing white pants- thank gawd for the long loose T I was wearing)…during the walk home I thought I was going to get struck by lighting …quite scary….theres a tornado watch too…odd weather for Toronto in the summer :s

Talk to you all tomorrow….have a few exciting new finds..again.. :P …one of them includes Karl Lagerfeld..

I think I'm just going to organize my room, keep all the TVs off, take a vanilla bath and lay back with my magazines (this is my usual winding down ritual)...just picked up the Flare issue for $2….great cover!

Life is a Peach

IMG_4095 IMG_4096 IMG_4065

Hey dudes! I picked up this top at the subway station for $5…It had a Nordstrom's tag on it with a price of $30…some serious markdown! This week has been really hot but I'm not going to complain…pretty soon it will be fall and ill be slipping into chunky knits (and of course..missing summer :P)…I’ll be honest though..I’m looking forward to wear all my new boots that I’ve thrifted! P.s. I keep wanting to show you guys my DIY shirt I just have not had the opportunity to wear it…hopefully this weekend…I will be meeting up with Anne and Frank for a movie and maybe go for deserts on College street later on…

and...Countdown to NY!

Off to watch season two of True Blood….my friend got me the season on disc =)

Ever after

IMG_4017 IMG_4024 IMG_4028

The wedding yesterday was beautiful…I started thinking about how fast time passes by and how I remember being a part of different school teams/committees together, how we just recently finished our undergrad University degree….etc…and now she is married to this great guy who J and I both love and it really was the perfect fairy tale wedding….Next will be J and I! I am definitely going to go for a very simple look…we’ll see when the time comes nearer… I don’t have any shots of what I wore to the wedding so I will just tell you …I wore a plain black deep V neck dress with my patent red heels, vintage sequin envelope clutch and new Kenneth Jay Lane gold and crystal necklace…very simple but I think very nice for a wedding.

Anyways….today was a sweltering hot day….I changed into this near the end of the day …the morning (we went to McDs for my fave muffin…fruit and fibre ..mmmm)  consisted of jean shorts, a tank and some flip flops…. This corset skirt is the cutest thing that I have recently thrifted….it was in the children's section which explains why it looks so teeny tiny! I wore it with a pair of bicycle shorts which I have been doing a lot of lately…that way there are no “mishaps a la Britney” when getting out of the car etc…I'm thinking I might get a gold pair ;) …and yes, still wearing that cuff from Winners…I wore it to the wedding too and it got stuck in the brides hair when I went to hug her :s… little wee bit embarrassing

Well off to eat some lychee and pass by our favourite Turkish restaurant…maybe go for ice cream later too and then its back to a hectic work week….thankfully…in a couple weeks we will be off to New York!!

The Simple Things

IMG_3745 IMG_3747 IMG_3766

J, our friend Bart and I went downtown for a volleyball tournament they were both enrolled in. Lots of fun and the weather was crazy hot today...too bad I was cooped indoors at work most of the time! I had a hot dog that cost me $4...yea, they jack up the prices because they know people are hungry, thirsty, whatever and they will fork up...so I did...and then we went for some Mickey D's icecream....mmm I always get oreo with caramel...

Tomorrow is my girl Jess's wedding! I still dont know what im wearing... :s....I have a lot so im sure I will find something in my closet...if not, I can always shop in mama's closet :P... I am doing her wedding makeup tomorrow so I have to be up really early to get a head start...Her photos begin at 10:30am

Lastly, I have a DIY that I am very proud of...I love how it came out and cant wait to show you guys....it involves mesh and cut outs... =)

Shirt: Cut up back - Zara- Size Large, it was the last one and $7...leggings: Aritzia, Bag: Vintage (the clutch from yesterdays post...J loves this bag), bracelet: Winners, Shoes: JC, Sunnies: Ray Ban , Lace Bra: Aritzia (Talulah)

When the Clock Stops

IMG_3724

As you can see, I picked up a few things while out thrifting…I was really excited about the sparkly vintage bags, the studded pashmina and those beautiful black leather knee high boots which cost me $10! The corset skirt is super cute too and I might show you guys how it looks in my nest post…J helped me pick them out..I was only going to pick one and he convinced me to take both…=) The leggings were not thrifted…those are H&Ms new sequin leggings which im still debating about…I don’t think I would really recommend them just because they are so scratchy on your legs when you wear them that they make you itch…I’m going to try wearing tights underneath and see how that feels…

J…. if you read this…Just wanted to let you know I love you…

and to all my readers, family, and friends that voted for me in the Elle Contest…Thank you! I did not win but was happy to make it to the top 12 =)

Fall in love and don’t get back up

IMG_3620 IMG_3621 IMG_3650IMG_3637

My little brother is BACK! I was so excited to pick him up at the airport….he got taller too….he is a little taller than me and before he left he was just almost my height! It was also J’s dad’s birthday so I passed by to give him a gift that we both bought him (some Hurley shorts and a tee in dark green, his favourite colour)…I ate TONS of cake, cheese, prosciutto, lamb chops…..the amount of food was just endless….

This dress in these pictures above is another Value Village find….I was SO excited when I found it because it is by one of my favourite designer brands…Religion….it is all silk and chiffon material and has a bunch of metal chains around the neckline….very flowing and loose fitting. I picked it up a while ago for $8! Paired it with my new Kenneth Cole blazer =)

Lastly, It has been confirmed that I will be going to New York soon! I can’t wait because I LOVE the city….I have always preferred the city over the more relaxed atmosphere of the country side…. So its New York and then off to Oregon a week later …good thing I'm picking up my passport tomorrow…wasn't expecting these trips to come up so soon….any suggestions on places to visit are much appreciated!

6452_789982357142_28113698_50259201_659672_nP.s. For those of you that messaged me about the Bachelorette…Here is what I wore to Muzik nightclub. It was basically three pieces paired together…my Talulah crop top that I wore here along with the same skirt by Wilfred just in black….and then to kick it up a bit and add some volume I tied this Forever 21 skirt up high..it really poofed out which I liked and you cant really see in this picture…sorry for the bad quality of the shot….it is pretty much the only one I have…as you can tell I wore my extensions…my hair was pretty much three colours all mixed together..still need to make really blonde ones and I will do a tutorial when I do!

Spin my Head right Around

IMG_3610IMG_3606

J took these shots this weekend so I could show you guys this new cardi courtesy of my papa as a little gift. We all went shopping for his luggage (mom, dad and me) and he bought my mom and I a couple shirts and luggage for himself ….I really love how easy it is to throw on and it can transition from work to everyday wear depending on what you pair it with. Also, with this massive heat wave I really love the idea of just throwing up my hair…which is what I have been doing…=)

This weekend has been crazy –hot, humid, full of rain and crazy lightening! I love this sort of weather especially at night when J and I are just relaxing at home…Last night J and I just sat on his rooftop patio and enjoyed natures “performance”….

Tonight will probably consist of relaxing with mama and watching a movie, painting my nails a new crazy colour and sipping on some chamomile tea before bed….we will probably watch my Best Friends Wedding…love anything Julia Roberts!

P.s. The bachelorette was amazing for those of you that asked! We had a booth at Muzik nightclub which I highly recommend if you are ever in Toronto and looking for a fun club with a party atmosphere. A little pricey but perfect for a bachelorette….we ate sushi, cake and of course…..there was alcohol….lots of alcohol..I will see if I can get some pictures….I rarely bring my camera to clubs because I always end up losing my things :s

Bachelorette

IMG_3559IMG_3550 IMG_3577 IMG_3591IMG_3581

Today is one of my best girls bachelorette party which is super exciting! Next week she ties the knot…so happy for her! Tonight will be a night of partying, fun games, limo rides and clubbing downtown…I might post some pictures tomorrow depending how “decent” they are …haha…I still don't know what I'm wearing and I need to be ready in a couple hours…I might do my beige with black lace overlay bra top with a black high waist skirt (we’ll see).

A few days ago I went on a little splurge at Winners because they are having a crazy clearance sale…bought this Kenneth Cole boyfriend blazer that is so comfortable and easy to wear in an xs =)…a Kenneth Jay Lane necklace for $30 which I will be wearing to my friends wedding, a leather cuff (wearing in these pics), Theory beige dress pants for $21 and a cute wrap courtesy of my papa who wanted to buy me a little gift…he will be leaving tomorrow out of the country and my little brother will be coming back…I cant wait it see him! Would not be surprised if he is taller than me now ;)...

lastly, its official….I think I am borderline obsessed/addicted to iced coffee as opposed to regular coffee…sometimes I will even make a batch, stick it in the fridge and then use it for the morning with cream and sugar…but it never tastes like my Timmies….mmmmm…..also addicted to these Zara shoes...so much so that I have "love blisters" on my feet from wearing them so often...good thing I grabbed them because they sold out quickly ;)

Talk to you all soon! and as you already know….I have made it to top 12 for the Elle Magazine contest so if you have not voted…you can Click HERE

….for those of you that have, thanks so much for your support! It means so much =)

Shorts: Zara, Shirt: J (he didn't want it anymore, was a little small on him so I took it over), Jacket: Kenneth Cole, Shoes: Zara, Purse: Vintage, Bracelet: Winners

Sing Your Own Song

IMG_3519IMG_3502 IMG_3520 IMG_3538 IMG_3547

The Tuesday back after the holidays is the worst….you have to adjust to the work week once again and its like that Monday off was just a little teaser :P…..but the good news is that I will be soon going on my first business trip…it has just been confirmed and we will be flying out to Oregon in a few weeks…really excited for that! When I work at something I put everything into that…when I'm in school its my books, texts, tests etc and at work its..my work…actually I have a little bit of “studying” I have to do right about now for tomorrow :P….I bought this sarong/belly dancing piece last week for $10….black for me and violet for the mama,…the intentions were to use it with my black bikini this past weekend at the cottage…BUT I found that it is also an interesting piece to incorporate into my daily wardrobe ;)… I like using it as a jumbo necklace …it jingles as I walk or just over plain black jeans and a black tee…try it out…you might like it!

As you can see…I am still also madly in love with these Zara studded lovers that pushed their way into my life..really, I wasn't supposed to buy them …but my girl Carina and I decided that if I didn't…if she didn't…then we would grossly and intensely regret it….yes, this dramatization is completely necessary…:P

Later on I will be putting on this mask while I do some work and hopefully paint my nails if I have some time …I bought two new L'Oreal colours since they were having a sale at Shoppers Drug Mart (3$ I think?). I really need to try something other than the neon pink I have been addicted to….the white polish is fine tip to do little designs..why pay when you can do it yourself ;)
