1347 where are you? seriously

IMG_5485IMG_4587(1)[1]

So tonight after work … Charmaine from Goldie Oldie Charms and I met up for the first time =) She is honestly the sweetest ever! Super genuine and just a great person …We were on our way to Queen St to look for Jeremy Laing’s Sample Sale (apparently nothing over $200)…we found 1345 and 1349 but where the HELL was 1347?? So after searching, a bit of staring…asking random people on the street who looked like they may have needed a teeny bit of help themselves….we decided it was missing, not there or in some freaky spot that could not be seen with the naked eye….who knows but the point is….we didn't make it to this sale BUT we still had a great time…roamed Queen st for a bit…met interesting characters on the subway (I think I turned three shades of red trying not to laugh)…and saw the weirdest little banana looking car driving around downtown Toronto….also stopped by Aldo and picked up these babies (first picture above) for $28 taxes in because of my SPC card….pretty sweet and are the closest version I can probably find to the awesomeness that is Chloe…. that I also wished were sitting comfortably in my closet right now!

Crap .. I don't have Charmaine’s outfit details (but I know her boots were H&M because I kept drooling over them..and of course, you cant see them in this picture!..haha)

My Outfit: Leather Jacket: Zara, Scarf: Thrifted (you will be seeing a lot of these because it is FREEZING here in Toronto), Bag: Vintage Chanel, Shirt: UB, Jeans: Marciano, Boots: Thrifted

The Men in my Life have been Spoiling me Miss Cherie

IMG_5474IMG_5464

Just got back from the So You Think You Can Dance tour… J got us tickets for the show a while ago and surprised me with them today…it was a lot of fun but we did notice that most of the people at the show were preteens and their dads….haha…well, that doesn't make me any less of a fan :P….I don't know about where you are but it has been FREEZING up here in Toronto….and without warning….I think I'm getting sick because of the quick shift in temperatures!

I opted for a warmer, comfortable outfit since we would be sitting for about 3 hours…. Went with my leather jacket (and I was STILL cold)….warm scarf, leopard white long sleeve shirt (has a big face of a leopard on the front…super cute and got it for $10 on sale at H&M a while ago)…and my thrifted booties (flats so that we could RUN to the show since we thought we would be running a little late)….grabbed some MCDs before the show and ate a Big Mac…..best one I have ever had…it actually tasted FRESH! what?! As you can tell I am not the biggest McDs fan…well minus the fries ;)

Lastly, my papa just came back from Atlanta and sitting on my dresser was the cutest little package….Miss Dior Cherie perfume that he picked out for me and a little teddy (which is not in the picture)…Lucky me =) …also, you can see the new ring that I have been wearing which is covered in tiny little crystals….J picked it out for me on Queen st. at Fashion Crimes (check it out if you are looking for some cool funky jewellery…their dresses are not really my style but love the accessories there)…

so yes, the men in my life have been spoiling me…

The Clothing Show

IMG_5273IMG_5248 IMG_5249IMG_5240

The clothing show on Saturday here in Toronto was a lot of fun…..tons of cool booths with unique and one of a kind things as well as TONS of vintage items. I just picked up two hats….the one that I am wearing in the first/2nd picture… second picture I was asking J for his opinion so I look a little funny…haha….It was $24 but I was really debating so I asked the lady if she would take $20 ….she agreed and thus it made its way into my closet…I was going to leave it if it was any more than $20 although it still would have been a great price…I just have a hard time paying vintage store prices when I find a lot of great stuff out thrifting for a quarter of that price….nonetheless, it is still a lot of fun and the selection is obviously a LOT better! I also bought a crazy hat from The Fairies Pyjamas which also have a boutique in Kensington Market….It is a little odd…but that's why I like it…J loved it and convinced me to get it…kind of looks like a fairytale creatures hat…it is more for winter…can’t wait to show you! The fashion show was cute…most of it was not really my style but I we took a shot of one of the dresses we thought was really interesting…super bright and made of a lot of different materials….overall, it was a fun experience and I would go again…definitely!

Ended up on Queen st today …went to Portobello Market to look at some cool photography and handmade jewellery….and ended up on college eating nutella and banana crepes with ice-cream…getting ready to wind down with an old school movie…Hope you all had a great weekend!

From the Apex of my Heart

IMG_5136IMG_5196IMG_5192IMG_5200

Today is the clothing show and I will be making my way down later on….got the tickets online for a discounted price for J and I. There will be more than 300 booths including lots of Vintage and sample sale sections. I bought a beautiful vintage fur collar jacket last year for $10. I wouldn't even find that jacket at Value Village for that price! J and I will be taking lots of photos to share with you guys so you can pretty much experience it too :P ….

They also have sort of a mini runway show going on and we will probably be making it to these ones:

3:00pm and 7:00pm shows

Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday and I have not said it lately, but….thank you to my readers for all your support and each and every comment/email you leave me…you guys are so awesome and just thought you should know that!

Almost forgot…..I have a crazy new lip colour combination that I LOVE….I basically put on my MAC Lavender Whip purple colour lipstick with my fave red colour by Wet N Wild (916B) and it comes out the colour you see on my lips…less of a shocking red and more wearable out and about….and the purple tones make your teeth look extra white! (looks more purple in the pic but in person, its a lot more red)

Jacket: Thrifted, Jeans: Silence and Noise (I love this brand, they fit so great …just recently discovered these jeans), Shirt: Zara, Mesh Bodysuit: AA, Jewellery: Vintage and Tiffany, Hat: Thrifted, Bag: Topshop

A Little bit of Everything

IMG_5055 IMG_5074IMG_5103

My room is still in semi post tornado status so I am still organizing…I like to group things in favourites so I will keep my favourite purses of the moment grouped together (because I am always rediscovering new things in my closet, it tends to change often) and  favourite shoes of the moment (which pretty much consist of anything studded). This is why I cleared out my closet….so I can keep the favourites close at hand and store the others downstairs …easier access and saves me time in the morning! I am also going through some of my jewellery that has been neglected and all tangled up in this box…its mostly thrifted/vintage

One thing that does not really change is the perfume that I wear. You will never smell me wearing something like Coco Chanel (although its a classic and so many people rave about it) ….I like sweeter scents and LOVE Vanilla! My all time favourites:

- Princess by Vera Wang (J’s favourite too!)

- Nina by Nina Ricci

- Promesse by Cacharel

- Very Irresistible by Givenchy (My cousin in Portugal got me hooked on this one, it always reminds me of her!)

Well One Tree Hill started about 5 minutes ago and things are getting juicy so got to run! P.s. I would love to know your favourite scents and if anyone know of an awesome Vanilla based perfume they know of, please let me know!

Don’t Blend In

IMG_4988 IMG_4999 IMG_5024

After tonight J and I made a point to spend some time together since we have both just been so distracted and occupied with other things… Tonight we decided to just relax, rent a couple movies and stay in…perfect way to spend a Wednesday night…We rented Sin Nombre which is all subtitles but…its Spanish so I can understand it anyways….its a great movie!

I am really debating about getting a weekly pass for Toronto Fashion Week… I think I am going to go for it and even if I make it to the night shows, at least I will have the experience, at least this year! I also noticed that the after party is at Muzik =) It would also be cool to meet some of you in Toronto!

Lastly, I don't know if you guys remember this skirt…I have not worn it for a while but it used to be to my knees…I chopped it and threw it in the wash for a frayed, more worn in look and I LOVE the outcome…It is a lot more wearable now

Song of the day: Kings of Leon- Notion

Skirt: Vintage/DIY, Belt: Vintage Escada, Bodysuit: AA, Bag: Topshop (I know, its been glued to my side lately), Red Clutch/wallet: Cole Haan, Sweater: H&M, Boots: Zara

Just Sit Back and Relax

IMG_4934 IMG_4946 IMG_4950

Remember these old school puffy looking pants? While they may still have a little gram vibe to them or as my little brother would say, look a little clownish….I like them =) ….they are super comfortable, have little pleats and enough of a drop crotch that it doesn't look like I'm wearing a diaper! So I would say they are good in my books, that and the fact that they cost me $3 and regardless if I wear them only 5 times….their cost per use would have been next to nothing ;) …but don’t worry, I don't plan on getting rid of them soon!

Also, this is random but Toronto Fashion week is coming up and I'm still lemming over whether I feel like paying $50 for a ticket :s….any of my Toronto readers going? Oh and don't forget the Toronto clothing show this weekend! I might go on Friday or Saturday in the evening =) ..The show always have such amazing vintage finds for decent prices…

Well I am off to go buy a gift for a very special person/ eat a yummy home cooked meal/ eat some ice cream with banana and chocolate ..mmm/ watch One Tree Hill at 11pm because its one of my FAVE shows ever/ Take a hot bath with these new sea salts that I bought at Wal Mart….. Talk to you all soon! XOX

P.s. My brother thanks you guys for all the birthday wishes! You guys are too sweet....

Happy Birthday My Little Man

IMG_4962 IMG_4966 IMG_4974

Today is the day that my little bro came into my life 15 years ago! I remember the day like it was yesterday…I was eight years old and staying at my aunts when my mom went into labour….hours later I got the call that I had a baby brother and couldn't wait to get to the hospital to meet him… He came out with a full head of black hair…it looked like a toupee! I would post a picture of us but he doesn't want to be featured…haha…

We ate buffet….I filled up on lots of soup, salad, meats, carbs, fruit, and pumpkin pie ;) This weather has been so schizophrenic….we went from freezing cold yesterday to so hot that I had to take off my jacket today! I was wearing a vintage cropped jean jacket with this outfit but left it in the car because I was boiling… later passed by the mall with J and the little bro to pick up Kid Cudi’s CD.

On to the outfit: The skirt was picked up at Value Village recently along with the vintage leather bag I got a while ago. Worked out perfectly because the colour is so similar to these laced up Urban Outfitter booties I am wearing (which by the way are super comfortable!). The necklace was picked up at Nordstrom Rack when I went to Portland, Oregon for $7 ….for a silver necklace, I would say that's an awesome sale price! I love the thick cross and thin chain…all jewellery is vintage and my green emerald gold ring was passed on to me by my grandmother. It is very special to me as is all the jewellery that she passed on to me. My grandfather gave it to her when they first started dating. I should show you guys one day =)

Hope you all had a great weekend! xox

Re-organizing

IMG_4918

Spent some time reorganizing my shoe closet….I basically had 5 hanging shoe racks from IKEA and removed three so that I could keep the most current items I’m wearing close at hand rather than having to walk to the basement to get my clothes. This will probably usually consist of my newest pieces or rediscovered old ones…Its a really tiny closet, I don’t even know if it qualifies as a closet! actually my room is probably the size of a small walk in so ….yea…make do with whatcha got! I had to go through my shoes and keep the ones I wear most often in the shoe racks and the rest will be stored on my shelves (like my studded heels ;) or downstairs…looking at them sprawled out on the floor just made me realize ….how many pairs I actually own :s..this does not include runners or boots! :s….. I think I need to put myself on a shoe ban for a while…at least until I get rid of, or sell some of my old ones!

Also went to watch Diablo Cody’s “Jennifer's Body” and it was good but not great. I would say its definitely a stay at home and rent type of movie…nothing I would spend my money on at the theatres….well I did but you guys get the message :P . We were supposed to watch Inglorious Bastards but the theatre was full and there were 6 of us … probably would have been a heck of a lot better

…its 1:30 am and not in the least bit tired so I think I’m going to watch yet another movie…haha….I rented Valley of the Dolls at my new favourite rental store…Queen Video…check it out if you have not been there, its a great independently owned shop with awesome stock and prices!

Be back tomorrow with some outfit posts for you guys so stay tuned! =)

The Supermelon: Real Style and Outfit Update

ashleigh-main1

Thanks to The Supermelon for featuring me on their site! You can read the article by clicking here

Just got back from work, going to jump into the shower and I'm off to downtown Toronto area for the Film Festival =) Going to grab some sushi, coffee and ice-cream and hopefully spot some stars :P…let me know if any of you will be down there and if you are I hope you enjoy yourselves! It only comes once a year ;)

Update: What we wore =) P.s. for those of you who don’t know - - this is J…my main squeeze and husband to be…he wore one of my favourite jackets that we picked up at H&M a while ago…he knows I loveeee when he wears it … haha…I look super short but I assure you I am not that tiny….its just that J is SUPER tall!

IMG_1590 IMG_4888

So I’m back home and should be sleeping considering I have a super long day ahead of me tomorrow…but I can’t fall asleep and sadly, its due to this teeny little creature with multiple legs (aka centipede) that I found in my room…I'm ok with insects (well not in my room obviously but you get the point), but these are just disgusting! Anyways, we went to Sushi Inn in Yorkville and pigged out like crazy…..as usual :P….and then later on passed by our friends house for some coffee =)

On to the outfit: The shoes are my new love and a great substitute for fall for my strappy studded Zara shoes that I have worn quite a bit this summer…Still breaking them in though…the pants, as you know are from UO on Queen street and picked up for $20…they have some great detailing at the waist and the back of the leg opening which you cant see in the pictures…This is the bodysuit that I fell in love with and picked up Value Village just recently ….told you I couldn't wait to wear it! P.s. good thing I brought the scarf because it as FREEZING in Toronto…I think it was 5 degrees Celsius!

Shoes: Zara, Pants: Silence and Noise, Belt: ?, Bag: Topshop, Bodysuit: Vintage/thrifted (the one I bought from the post below), Scarf: Thrifted

How are you? Its been a while

IMG_1586 IMG_1588 I'm back…and I'm sorry its not with a bang (oh the pixel-y goodness of these photos :P)…J has been super busy and his life obviously does not revolve around taking photos of me so…. that's what the good old Canon point and shoot is for! Again, I apologize for the quality of this photo but you will be seeing these every now and then because lets face it…the days are getting shorter…work hours longer.

I have been working on this little project of mine as well as trying to shop for the little bro today on my day off. He loves Hollister, Abercrombie and that sort of skater meets beach boy look…so I bought him a shirt, wallet, necklace, hat and cologne by Roberto Cavalli (he is 15 years old and is really starting to care about the scent he gives off :P..he’s a cutie). I hope he loves it all…

I also stopped by Value Village and am so glad I did because for $15 I picked up these crazy herem-y turquoise pants that fit nice and tight around the waist and butt which I like…a fluffy beige skirt which I can also pull off in the office….and this velvet and sheer bodysuit that looks so good on! I also exchanged a pair of Silence and Noise pants that I got a while ago…they were white and light blue acid wash and ended up on sale for half price…I basically got my money back and picked up the black pants you see on my bed by Silence and Noise for $20 and the dress also by Silence and Noise for $22 (great leather looking paneling and spandex material)….guess why it was $22? ….well the hem was a little torn and whenever there is a slight defect…they give you 20% off usually…you just have to point it out to them…lastly, the boots from Zara ;) and we wont go into how much I love leather and studs….we just wont…

J and I will be back with some outfit photos for you on the weekend… Got some great thrifted velvet body con dresses and will most likely debut these boots on the weekend while going to watch Inglorious Bastards with friends…

Will Be Missing You

IMG_1580

Just to let you all know that I am back in Toronto! =)

J picked me up at the airport along with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and an Iced Cap (No Tim Horton's in Portland, Oregon…but they have Stumptown which is WAAAY better..so going to miss that)…he is such a sweetie! I will be missing all the yummy sushi that we would eat at Masu which is on 13th avenue in Portland (I recommend it if you are looking for a cool sushi place with good eats)…Stopped by the Nike Factory before leaving and got a cute pair of white joggers with an elastic waistband that says “Just Do It” and a windbreaker (because we cant ALWAYS wear heels and dresses…come on now!)…Watched The Soloist on the plane which I highly recommend..I thought it was a great movie…I don't have any outfit posts because like I said, it was a work trip so I pretty much wore different versions of the same thing (which generally included a pair of plain dress pants)…Hopefully have this blog back in order this week :P

P.s The Doc Marten store on Broadway was all sold out of the floral docs =(

Looking forward to Toronto Film Festival (since I have missed most of it!)…Will most likely pay a visit on Friday or Saturday…I haven't been to Yorkville in a while!

A One Man Army

portland311821107 My last couple nights in this beautiful quaint city have been spent drinking coffee and eating deserts at random cafes…eating lots of cheesecake (went to the cheesecake factory)…went to Henry’s for some amazing spinach and cheese dip and salt and pepper calamari (and pineapple Malibu's …mmm..I got carded…luckily I had my ID on me but I think he was questioning it…as if it was fake and I couldn't possibly be 23… shocker!)…vintage shops…Powell's books which is the largest independently owned bookstore in the world…I found out that my first edition Stuart little book is worth close to a grand! what?!….strolling the parks…Starbucks (there is one on literally every street corner!) …this is definitely a very artsy place that embraces being a little different/creative/unique…its pretty awesome…..lots of young backpackers….Oregon I believe..is the only state to have an official Doc Martens store…what do you guys think of these babies?? I kind of like that they are black and white…and no tax!! XOX

Stumptown

IMG_1563

Wearing my new necklace ….love it a lot….I had heard great things about this coffee shop in Portland called Stumptown….the coffee was great and I loved the setup and how they actually had metal (not plastic) spoons for use, honey…etc…all neatly displayed on this huge wooden table…We all know how much I LOVE coffee :P

Its midnight here and 3am Toronto time…Been listening to T.I “I'm Illy”, Akon and Little Wayne “I'm so Paid”, and Kanye West “Impossible” on repeat …going to bed now…need to get ready for tomorrows Starbucks fuel up before work…so far I'm really loving Portland (and am so amazed that transit is free in this tax free city! ). I'm sorry for the low quality pictures (that's one thing I miss….J’s Canon Rebel…:P…of course…I'm missing him even more!) ….I’ll probably only post when I get back….unless you guys are liking these low quality pic updates :P….ugh…because I don't think I am

P.s These are the sorts of things I usually wear for work....simple tops, blazers and dress pants (I have a great beige pair by Theory that I picked up at Winners on sale marked down from $200 to $20)...I will usually throw interesting necklace or bracelet but thats pretty much as crazy as it gets...

The only thing missing is you

Sorry for the bad quality pictures but this is what I have to work with while I'm here! So the flight was about 8 hours …ugh… but check in was great, grabbed a bite to eat (sushi…mm)….grabbed some tea at Starbucks…now I am back in the hotel and just getting ready for a nice hot shower! The cleaning lady set the music to this awesome jazz station so when I got in I was pleasantly surprised…and little chocolates…yum! Need to touch up on my mani and decided to paint them pink in this L'Oreal colour called Trust Fund Baby. Also going to use this tea tree face mask from the body shop because I have been breaking out a bit…then I'm off to bed because I'm super tired!

Also, I decided to do a little face routine post since it has been requested, and I have some time…

The foundation that I have been using lately (and I say lately because it usually changes every few months) is Makeup Forever HD and then my MAC mineralize skin finish in medium plus which give me a healthier glow. I also use Warmth by Bare minerals as a bronzer, MAC paint pot in Painterly for my eyelids that are usually discoloured and Lancôme under eye concealer. The face wash I use is Tea tree oil face wash by The body shop and I always take off my makeup EVERY night using eye makeup remover and cleansing pads. If this is not detailed enough or you have more specific questions just email me or let me know in the comments!

Well I am off to work! Oregon really is a green state...trees everywhere! Its beautiful... I also found a couple cute vintage shops so maybe check those out when I have time =)

IMG_1557P.s. I found this necklace at a vintage shop for $20 and could not pass it up! The pendant is huge and it just looks so much more beautiful in person….It looks like the claws are holding in the stone...I cant wait to show you guys when I actually wear this with an outfit =)

That’s Amore

IMG_4857IMG_4849 IMG_4850 IMG_4851

What a crazy, busy long weekend! We ate out pretty much everyday because we were always on the run…actually lunch time was spent at Pacific Mall where we ate at an Asian restaurant..I had the sushi and tempura bento box which was awesome…and even better, it was only $9! and a mango bubble tea because I had been craving one all day….Also passed by College street last night which I forgot to mention and had the craziest crepes at this placed called “I love to eat Crepes”…I think that was what it was called :s….I had nutella and banana crepes…so good…even better with vanilla ice cream but because there was a festival going on they were not taking any special orders. If you are in Toronto, you have to check this place out! My grandparents also came back from Portugal so J and I went to visit them and now I'm here, doing my post :P (while watching so you think you can dance in the background…love this show!)…

This weekend we also passed by Urban Outfitters on Queen since they were having a sale on all their jeans….all jeans were $39. So I picked up these boyfriend jeans by BDG that I am in LOVE with because they are so comfortable but still sexy in an understated way. I especially like to offset the bagginess with a sexy pair of heels…so what better pair than my fave studded Zara’s?! P.s. Didn't get to order the studs online but will do that soon hopefully…

Jeans: BDG from Urban Outfitters, Shoes: Zara, Shirt: Urban Outfitters see thru tee, Leopard Bra: La Senza, Bag: Topshop (the strap is soooo long, I think I might have it shortened), Cuff: Thrifted

P.S. If anyone lmow of any great places in Portland, Oregon to check out please let me know!

Some down time

IMG_4817

Hey guys! Sorry I have been all mia for a few days… We have been busy just catching up with friends, relaxing at the park…went to three BBQs, the beach, shopping for car accessories for our friend Frank… meeting new additions to our friends families (i.e. this precious little dude in the picture!). I will be back later today with some outfit posts for you guys….as usual, have a few new thrifted pieces and as you can tell from this picture---finally got my hair done! I went a bit of a darker blonde and got some lowlights. P.s For those of you who dont know...this is J ...my lovely fiancee and photographer =)

Lace Yourself In

IMG_4778 IMG_4783 IMG_4790

So for most, its getting ready for back to school and for me…..well for the first time in 20 years I am not….I always looked forward to getting new and clean notebooks and pens…I passed by Wal Mart and was so close to giving in and buying a few just because I was feeling a little nostalgic…well its only been 3 months since I graduated from UT and already….I kind of miss it (the lectures…not so much exams :s) …there is always the option to go back, but right now, that option just does not feel right. I am very focused on working right now and getting all the other things in my life back in order that I had neglected to some degree during school! I wish all of you going back to yet another year the best of luck and many A+’s ….hehe….

Also finally got around to booking my hair appointment…about time to rid those beastly roots good riddance! I might put in some really blonde/whitish pieces and then some lowlights….we will see…I am still tampering with the idea…I also plan on ordering about 1,000 studs and spikes this weekend so I can get started on some DIYs….

Well, TGIF tomorrow! and its a long weekend here in Canada so that means…..beach and picnic time!! Sunday will be a day well spent with friends, drinks, lots of food and music ;)…and hopefully a little bit of relaxing on Monday just before I leave on my trip

P.s. I have been wearing this vest with everything! I love it- with AA long sleeve bodysuits, dresses, T shirts...and pretty much anything dressy to give it a more casual vibe. I was about to buy another from Value Village to stud and didnt buy it....I kind if regret it now...Also been wearing Revlon nail colour in Raisin Rage which I have rediscovered (I dont even think Revlon makes this colour anymore)..I have had it for SOO long

Shirt: Thrifted (90s floral from the GAP- Gap made some AWESOME pieces in the 90s and great quality!), Vest: Thrifted United Colours of Benetton, Pants: H&M, Shoes: H&M, Leather Bag: Topshop (from my NY trip), Necklace: Tiffany (gift from mama for grad), Silver Knuckle Ring: HOB
