Whatever You Want to be, You’re Free

IMG_6302 IMG_6312 IMG_6317

Woke up this morning and panicked a little. I have my costume for Halloween all planned out BUT I still need a few finishing touches….I will be re-working a vintage dress that I found downtown on Queen into a Lady Gaga-esque ensemble, Hair, sunglasses and all (hopefully). I was thinking I might take a few pictures of the process and show you guys but that’s if I get the chance to steal (borrow) J’s camera….I am STILL searching for my Sony point and shoot and really….I don’t think its going to turn up so that will be my next bargain hunt- a cheap camera ….probably canon.

We will be attending a Halloween bash with tons of our friends so it should be a great time- some of them got REALLY creative (Including J, Just thinking about his outfit cracks me up ).

Lately I have been finding tons of awesome velvet vintage bodysuits while out thrifting! This was one of my more recent finds and I LOVE the scalloped detail and the lace up front! Wore it on the weekend because we actually had some warmer weather…haha and there I am again with my damn coffee! I have noticed that a lot of my pictures include me holding coffee- probably because its pretty much the only time J and I have together to actually grab an outfit shot :P and of course I'm an addict – a coffee addict (you should see my desk at work!)

Velvet Bodysuit: Vintage, Jeans:Urban Outfitters, Belt: Vintage (one of my faves because goes with almost everything), Shoes: Zara, Cardigan: F21, Ring: Fashion Crimes, Bag: Topshop (again….agghh!!)

P.s. That last picture ...The lighting created this sort of porcelain effect- I kind of love my pale-ness

Aris

IMG_6212 IMG_6216 IMG_6254 IMG_6280 IMG_6181

Yesterday was the last day of Toronto Fashion Week and I stayed for a couple of the shows (the weather was horrible!). Unfortunately, I had forgotten to charge the camera and 3 minutes into the Brandon Dwyer show, my camera battery died and this last shot was the only half decent photo I took (which still isn't even that great). I was so upset because the best part was yet to come- and that was Jessica Biffi’s show! The start was a futuristic sort of movie clip of different models posing in a very robotic/technical sort of way – they would speed up and slow down – AND she played it to one of my fave songs of the moment which was bulletproof by La Roux! The outfits at both shows included lots of corsets…Dwyer’s show had a lot of glimmer/sparkle to it- long flowing gowns which seems to be a popular trend for spring summer. Biffi also had some interesting hoods with a zipper front detail that sort of acted like a necklace….she ended the show coming out with a couple models, to a hip hop jam and peaced us all out! haha….she was awesome and got a standing ovation and cheers from the crowd.

Today J and I started the day at Aris Place in Roncesvalles- its a cute small place and coffee is super cheap at only a buck ;) …well in a couple minutes I will be off to look at bridesmaid dresses with my girl Anne for her wedding =)

Oh and yesterday I was so cold that I passed by H&M to look for a cheap jacket and ended up finding this awesome faux fur at 50% off for just $30! Pretty sweet ….and I got the biggest size which was a 12 so that it didn't fit so cropped and tight- well and it was the last one so I kind of didn't have a choice…haha…but I think it worked out really well! And this is the necklace, white shirt and jeans I wore yesterday to fashion week except I also had a BF blazer and my studded booties to go with the look

Gotta run! XOX

Gone Yesterday and Here Tomorrow

IMG_6169IMG_4662 IMG_6165

The lovely Charmaine sent me this picture from yesterday so I thought I would post it. I went for a laid back look that was still me- and decided it would be the perfect time to debut my discount designer vest that I purchased a little while back at Holt Renfrew on a massive discount (marked to less than 100$ from over 1000$)..and of course my Docs- I look super tiny beside Charmaine ….haha….I will be dressing up a little more for the Friday shows =) …I attached some shots (sneak peak) of what I will probably be wearing…Got this new set of earrings and metal fringe necklace from F21 that I am SO in love with – glams up any plain tee!

This is generally what I do each night before bed …yes, I like to set out my clothes and carefully pick out what I will wear (unless I'm super tired, its late, and I roll out of bed…in which case I reach for the nearest items usually strewn across my bedroom floor).

Toronto Fashion Week

Hey guys! So today was my first time being at Fashion Week and although this is no NY or Paris, it was a great experience and a lot of fun! I even got to do a little thing for Cosmo Television on wardrobe malfunctions (and let me tell you, I am definitely not a camera person..I came out looking so awkward and think I got semi tongue tied…haha).

21 4

Paul Hardy (pictures above) was by far my favourite collection/show. The outfits were not complicated but each had its own unique detailing to it. The blazer with the “fish scaled” futuristic shoulders isn't an entirely new idea but regardless, it caught my attention and clearly that of many other onlookers! The buzz today was all over Paul Hardy. I would definitely love to rock one of these looks (cough cough…the blazer….umm Mr Paul, should you have one lying around)

IMG_6083reva2reva

Reva Misvagar’s show was interesting as well… a lot of blue, white and tons of bead detailing. Although I am not a huge fan of blue, I did like this very girly, beaded ballerina looking little number (just not the neckline….too high cut, I think a lover scoop would have been nicer, at least in my opinion). I also had to take a picture of this model because she was by FAR the most professional, had the greatest catwalk ever AND wasn't afraid to smile at the crowd/camera. She just exuded confidence and most people in the room just couldn't help being mesmerized.

Lastly, Lovas by Wesley Badanjak finished off the night for me (I was supposed to go to KT and Sculptz but was way too tired to make it and still had to grab some dinner) and I am sad to say, but this one did not do it for me. The clothes were very girly, very pretty but nothing unique at all! I can pretty much sum up the collection as my work wardrobe give or take a couple dresses. It was still a very fun show to watch and it was great to have Charmaine to accompany me (she trooped it out even though she is buried in work with exams and all). We both agreed that the eye candy was a pretty sweet finishing touch! Oh and the caramelized pop corn that they handed out in the cutest little carry out bags…mmm…I needed a sugar kick, I was dying of hunger…

I will be back soon with some more coverage! XOX

Kick off to Fashion Week

IMG_6001IMG_6003IMG_6005

Today is day two of Toronto Fashion Week and excitement is building…I will be making my way to a few of the shows this week so stay tuned (should have lots of pictures for you guys)! I have received invites to a few of the after parties but don’t think I will be able to attend them, I might do one on the Friday though so we’ll see how that goes ;) ..I will be meeting my girl Charmaine tomorrow who will be my date to one of the shows (she is trooping it out even though she has exams!) and I can’t wait. Speak of the devil- she just called as I was typing this…lol…..

These pictures were taken prior to me getting my hair done (just came back from the hairdresser) but the rootage is now all covered up! I was thinking of wearing a similar outfit to this one for tomorrow but I'm not so sure- I have so many clothes and still no idea as to what outfit I will choose to sport- or at least haven't made any real commitment to anything in particular other than these boots….which by the way are thrifted …love…..

I'm off to organize my life as I have RSVPd to a bunch of shows that I cant even remember the time or order any more!….I also need to tidy up the room because right now its starting to look like my closet just threw up pretty much each and every article of clothing that I own.

Fixed and Permanent

IMG_5979 IMG_5959

After a couple years of contemplating and almost half a year of lemming over this idea(s) that I had of what I wanted as my first tattoo…I went ahead and did it with J! I also wanted it in a spot that would not be too conspicuous. We will soon be working on his which will be a lot more work as he will be adding to a pre-existing one that he already has (and got when we FIRST started dating)…he will most likely be going to New Tribe on Queen Street as well (Paul was my artist)…the experience was great, it was clean, professional and I felt really comfortable. I had heard from friends that it would feel like a bunch of rubber bands snapping at once, but to be honest- mine felt more like a fire sensation….not pleasant at all and poor J….his hand must have been black and blue towards the end…I am a sucker for pain!

Hope you all had a great weekend! =)

Happy Birthday Baby!

IMG_5906IMG_5856IMG_5845IMG_5911IMG_5879

My future husband was born on this day (Well technically yesterday...) 24 years ago :) … Wanted to start off with a BIG Happy Birthday to J!! We started off the morning running some errands he had to do for work …grabbed some breakfast…then headed over to a lunch that his dad was hosting for him and a bunch of his employees….honestly, its actually been quite a tiring day and we have been eating SOO much!

Ended up on Queen street later on and checked out New Tribe tattoos (yes, we are getting tattoos very soon! J already has one that he will be adding on to…I will be getting my first)…Got attacked by a crazy squirrel….actually multiple squirrels that thought I had food (ok and I was making clicking noises trying to call one of them over...kind of my fault!)….I honestly looked nuts (no pun intended) running away from these teeny little creatures….

Went to Mandarin buffet for dinner and ate obscene amounts of crab legs and lychee…. drank lattes and ate pastries until about midnight ….so I am certainly wired right now and in no shape for bed….haha

Lastly, so sorry I have not posted regularly…..been really busy/occupied with life in general …thanks to all my readers who have stuck with me :P…. Love you guys! Also, I have just noticed…I think this is the FIRST time I have debuted a hoodie on my blog! It was just SO cold today and I couldn't wait to wear my new DIY Levi’s vest…sometimes its nice to just throw one on and get your ass out the door… Oh and the blackberry is all back in order...thanks for those of you who left me tips!

Countdown to Toronto Fashion Week…. =)

Countdown!!

dominican-republic-nature

So can you guess what J and I did today? Yep…booked our next winter vacation trip! So now the countdown begins…which is the best part…I love the feeling of looking forward to something, especially when you have worked hard to earn it! After this, the next time I will be on a beach will most likely be my wedding day! Crazy how time flies….

 Cancun_DEC2008_022

So then will come the packing and preparing! I will be putting my new vintage Gucci Carry-on luggage to good use :) I just picked it up recently and will hopefully show you guys tomorrow! J and I took some shots with it today after going to pick up a movie at the rental store and stuffing our faces with turkey, pumpkin soup and yummy mussels and clams that I made for the first time (they came out SO good!…lots of onions, garlic, crushed tomatoes, thyme seasoning etc)

P.s. Song of the day…actually no..let me rephrase…song of the week: La Roux- Bulletproof (I cannot get this song out of my head- great 80s vibe)

Time always reveals what you cant really see

IMG_5721 IMG_5760 IMG_5735IMG_5744

Hey dudes! This week has been super busy …and being sick doesn't really help much… first off, I would like to wish all of you celebrating thanksgiving this weekend (to my Canadians) a very Happy Thanksgiving…I know I have a lot to be thankful for…and for those who don’t celebrate….well you have Monday off :P….I will be eating lots of turkey and J and I will be spending Sunday with my family and Monday with his family.

Now onto today….woke up this morning….had my McD’s breakfast with J, the little bro and mama….tidied up ..because GAWWDD is my room a reckless mess…and then headed down to Queen Street to the Korean Grill House…they give you raw meat that you cook yourself…the food was awesome but the service was the worst I have experienced in a very long time. It is not pricey at all though if you go for the lunch buffet….and its definitely and interesting experience to converse over a nice meal that you get to cook yourself!!

We also stopped by Black Market Vintage on Queen which is having a huge sale….everything in the store….EVERYTHING is $10. I already bought my Halloween costume and I can’t wait to reveal it closer to the date….I just need to do a few modifications to it and get the proper face paint ;)

Well I am off to meet my girl Anne tonight for some crepes and coffee and J and his boys will be doing their own thing =)….oh and yes :P….I'm wearing extensions…I still have not made my new ones…I should get on that….as well as ordering my damn studs…

xox

P.s. I totally recommend the movie Couples Retreat....went to watch it with J at the theatre while eating take-out thai food....haha...good times

3am Update (haha): Just got back from the Mod Club on College after crepes and Martini's and watched a crazy violin performance to dance club beats....as well as this hilarious asian dude in overalls that loves to point and pose in different positions...apparently he is a regular ;) ...ran into our boys as well and joined them at the end of the night....good times...im out!

Jacket: Zara, Tights: Hot Topic from Dollarama (yesss!!), Vest: thrifted, Knee high back seam stockings: Wal Mart ($4 def beats American Apparels crazy price), Garter: LaSenza, Shorts: Zara, Bag: Topshop, Boots: Vintage Docs, Sunnies: Vintage Ray Ban , Snake Ring: Fashion Crimes

Rantings of a Fashion Addict Dot Com

IMG_5626IMG_5679IMG_5628

I am now officially a Dot com address which means less typing…..no need to type in that pesky (dot)blogspot(dot)com… :P

Have been getting invites to different shows for Toronto LG Fashion week which I am excited for! This will be my first time participating as previously I have always had exams etc … I might also be doing some backstage interviews with some different designers for shows that I have already RSVP’d. of course, there will be tons of pictures

This was the bodysuit that I had thrifted a short while ago….see-thru lace down the front and lace sleeves…I was ecstatic when I saw it hanging amongst some tacky 90s gym suits for $3.99! I also found this awesome vintage floral silk Christian Dior shirt for $13 that I had to pick up. I might even wear it for fashion week with a bandage skirt, cool tights and studded heels (of course…haha).

Lastly, why am I wearing this mask? Well I told you I collect costumes and have a chest full of them so this was my newest addition for just $1 from Dollarama ;)

Relax. Go Nuts.

IMG_5619IMG_5520 IMG_5581IMG_5564

Today a few friends and I ran…well walked….the 5K for Breast Cancer… It was a great experience and something I would definitely do again next year…. there were a lot of people cheering on the sidelines, handing out water…candies etc…and they also sold some stuff to raise money. I got two Revlon nail polishes …my new favourite colour is Plum Attraction…really beautiful and even better that the money goes to charity! Its a win win …

Spent some time with the family…then J and I grabbed some coffee, relaxed and spent about an hour playing with this squirrel in the first picture…haha…I swear, he seemed like the friendliest little squirrel I have ever met! He was actually playing with us..coming closer, running away…coming closer …such a cutie….J wanted to take him home…I think that's against the law…haha…who knows….

This is one of the tops and sequin jackets I picked up at Value Village….I wouldn't normally pay $10 for a used blouse at a thrift shop but I loved the print so I guess there is a first for everything…the jacket was $7 and after removing the massive foot ball player shoulder pads…I can’t complain….trust me, it was nothing close to Balmain! Hope you all had a great weekend! xo

The Mean Reds

2qa4l5c IMG_5372 IMG_5376 IMG_5390

I was looking through one of my folders and found the top picture which inspired me to wear my H&M lace up skinnies that I purchased on sale a while ago and something red…I loved her lip colour and will be making my way to MAC tomorrow to buy the new DSquared lipstick in Bloody Red…Its a bit darker but I think it will be perfect for fall!

I don’t think I have debuted these vintage shoes from David's my blog before but they have the most amazing studded detail at the toe and along the heel straps! I have had them in my closet for a while…I guess I don’t reach for them often enough because of the heel..I usually like either flats or high heels and these fall somewhere in between…I think I can get used to it ;)

P.s. stay tuned this weekend….I have found quite a few wonderful little pieces recently that I am DYING to wear and show you guys! I found the craziest vintage Christian Dior blouse today…along with a cute floral top ….I probably spent the most on three items that I have ever spent at a thrift shop..$35 for 2 tops and a sequin shirt/blazer…I think Value Village is starting to mark some of their items a little ridiculously…I found a beat up copy of twilight priced at $14.99….are you kidding me??!!

Don’t know where I'm going but I’m on my way

IMG_5315 IMG_5325 IMG_5326 IMG_5334IMG_5332

Took these shots with J this past weekend… we spotted the sweetest cat in a tree (it wasn't stuck, I promise)…I would love to be a cat person because I feel like you really have to work to win their love…and when you do….they are faithful furry friends….I just can’t stand all the shedding!

Today I had the day off …got up early to go to McDs for coffee and a muffin with my little Maxie….went downtown to buy some chains to start another DIY project….also passed by Dollarama and bought the best floral tights from Hot Topic for $1!! They still had the $10 price tag on them….they had a few pairs left and I regret not getting another to cut into shorts…might go back….also picked up a cute cat mask to add to my dress up box…I have TONS! We love  Halloween….seriously, its like my Christmas!

OH and I passed by Value Village and picked up the craziest lace and cotton black vintage bodysuit! It has see through lace from the top to my belly button in a sort of upside down triangle if you can picture that…haha….kind of like the one they have at American apparel….but better…because it also has lace sleeves..probably wear it this weekend so will def show you guys!
