So I will have more pictures to add to this post after my friend sends them to me (for some reason my camera was acting up and the pictures all came out horrible) …hopefully later on today AND some new outfit posts… so check back dudes :P

I have been super sick and am doing everything in my power to TRY and get better (sorry for the lack of posts…when I’m sick…I really don't feel like getting decked out so its been sweaters and plain tees for me)…I even tried selling my ticket yesterday for the Gaga concert because I was coughing my lungs out and not up for any crazy partying….but I trooped it out and went (I was going to wear something a LOT crazier originally)…and am paying for it even more today….I am taking lots of vitamin C, just finished a warm bath, drinking lemon tea with honey and ginger tea….and taking Cold FX…so hopefully I will be all better for my flight on Saturday….I will be off to the tropics to soak in some rays (and hopefully be able to enjoy it….if I keep coughing the way I do, I'm scared that they won’t even let me on the plane)

There were TONS of girls in crazy dresses, dudes in crazy dresses, kissing, hugging, loving,( the dudes behind us were smoking some serious mary-J), and lots of alcohol (well not for me…not good when you are sick :P)….Gaga was about an hour and a half late but STILL put on a crazy show…she is a GREAT performer …the best concert I have been to for sure..Kid Cudi was a lot of fun too …p.s. check out that guy in the second pic…I swear he was checking out the girls most of the time with those binoculars…hilarious!

for those of you who checked my blog yesterday …you might have watched my YouTube video that I had up ….you could hear my voice..that was perfect but it looked like the video was on some crazy fast forward motion….I looked like I was on speed or something so I decided to take it down, it was a test vlog that CLEARLY didn't work out for me…haha….if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix that I would LOVE to know …also half of what I was saying got cut off at the end….meh, who knows….me and technology don’t really mix

Well I will be back soon….I have been contemplating either doing 1-2 outfit posts a week for the winter months (due to the fact that J and I don't have as much sunlight to take pictures and by the time I get home from work its pitch black) …I was also thinking of maybe doing makeup posts/or just random posts in between but would love to know WHAT YOU GUYS THINK? interested? not? (I just hate doing indoor outfit posts which is what I use to do when I first started my blog…)

AND in between drinking tea and resting up…… I will be decorating today … prepping for Christmas =) I LOVE LOVE LOVE Christmas

Friends are the gifts that you give to yourself

IMG_6611 IMG_6637 IMG_6640 IMG_6652 IMG_6654

I will start this post by shouting out to my homeboy …..Frank =) Happy 24 years to you and thanks for always being a great friend…

Yesterday J and I had a wedding to go to and I have one word to describe it …which is extravagant… It was a movie theme…lots of diamonds, black and red… they had magicians and singers at the entrance ….deluxe bar which meant I was drinking Malibu pineapple and sparkling champagne pretty much all night….the food was amazing….the bride looked stunning…it was just a crazy crazy party… the price of this wedding was without a doubt in the triple digits…just their napkin holders which were large glass diamonds with brass rings for 400 people is pretty much my budget for my whole destination wedding….haha…

Today consisted of waking up super late with J after a night of drinking and partying, making some lunch (light soup), renting a couple movies, and then meeting up with some friends to have cake and coffee to celebrate Franks birthday…

well, I'm off to watch Alfie…oh and on a side note, as you can tell….I have been trying out my Urban Decay palette pretty much every day…I did an awesome gold and green smoky eye yesterday for the wedding and wish I had pictures to show you guys BUT J forgot his camera :( (today was a purple smoky eye) …I wore a black lace dress with a gold sequin bust …simple but elegant (and my Kenneth Jay Lane drop necklace)

Hope you all had an awesome weekend! My mama comes back from Pennsylvania today ….its only been two days and I already miss her…I'm such a mama’s girl :P

Jeans: H&M, Shirt: Costa Blanca (from their 50% off sale), Jacket: Armani Exchange, Necklace: F21, Bag: Danier leather (gift from J’s mom), Booties: Calvin Klein

Most people just get older, and they find parking spaces, honour their credit cards, choose personal preferences in drink, have the nerve to get married and have children, and they call that growing up. That's not. That's getting older.

Glitter in your Veins

  IMG_6535 IMG_6543

haha….First picture I am peeling off part of a value village price tag that I forgot on the bottom of my shoe…yep, so classy! Watched 2012 and I must say that although the graphics pleased my eyes….it was HIGHLY predictable…extremely far fetched (but that was to be expected)…and super long! Still a good time since we went with our friends…After that super long movie….naturally, my bladder was bursting after having consumed disgusting amounts of coke (which  rarely ever drink)…so we stopped at a gas station on the way home…where I found a cute little pink touch tone cell phone… the girl was super happy that I saved it for her…called the “home” number and told her she could pick it up….honestly, it felt good. Tempting to want to keep such a nice phone BUT being one that has already lost about 4 cell phones and not had one returned….I know exactly how it feels!…

I still can’t get over how the days are getting so much shorter!! so quickly….by the time I have lunch, its already getting dark and almost night-time. So please bear with me guys! I promise to do my best….

This weekend was also Jimmy Choo for H&M launch….my girlfriend and I were going to go on Saturday….until we remembered the catastrophe at H&M during Roberto Cavalli’s launch….OMG!! I have never seen so much estrogen, crazy flailing arms and fighting for items –ANY item …in my life! Not even on boxing day! So……we passed…people apparently are already trading sizes on Craigslist….haha….I wanted one of those chunky bracelets though….and sexy beaded shirt dress….oh well…

I would love to know if any of you made it out! let me know how it went this year…I was too chicken to troop it out (and wait in line for 5 hours…:s)

Hope you had a great weekend! XOX

2012

PA090250 IMG_6601PA090227

Don’t mind my knarly eyebrows and nasty morning hair in that last pic...haha…and I hope you don’t mind the shitty quality of today's point and shoot photos…the days are getting shorter…BUT we will have some great looks/shoot for tomorrow so check back (we will be doing our little Sunday brunch and taking some time out to be alone…peace and quiet!).

I received some comments emails requesting me to do a makeup tutorial and although I am by NO means an expert or claim myself to be one…I thought I would give it a shot! (of course, using my new Urban Decay palette..you can pick these up at Sephora)..the middle shot shows my fave products right now and what I used.

First off – I picked up some cute things at Costa Blanca because they are having 50% off EVERYTHING all weekend (Friends and Family event they call it). I picked up a dress, this scarf and a couple white silky and chiffon tops for vacation in December! for ridiculous prices….show you guys soon

On to the look:

I used Makeup Forever foundation which blend really smoothly…my fave right now and doesn't dry out my skin. I used Nivea simply glowing moisturizer underneath.

Primed by eyes with Urban Decay primer potion and then YDK eye shadow from the Book of Shadows palette I picked up (far right colour….row #3 from top…sort of a beige brown colour). Then on the outer corners of my eyes I used Ecstacy (first row …#3 purple colour) and blended it with a black colour (Perversion….row 1 and colour #1) from the corner to the crease of my eye….keeping it in the crease and not all over my lid. I used the grey Quo brush to do this which is my fave for that…and super cheap…its a Canadian brand and you pick it up at Shoppers drug Mart. For blending the whole look I used my MAC 217 (One of my favourite brushes and super soft!). They key is to really blend all the colours so you try to avoid harsh lines (I blended out the black a lot for a less dramatic look)

Lined my eyes with L'Oreal Linear intense (honestly just as great as the expensive brands so don’t even waste your money!) and L'Oreal voluminous mascara (one of my faves as well)

Finished with light blush on the apples of my cheep and using large strokes up to my temples (Guerlain Peach blush colour) and a beige gloss by MAC.

Outfit: Shirt- random?, Leggings: F21, Boots: Thrifted, Purse: Vintage Chanel, Belt and Scarf: Costa Blanca (super surprised by the quality of this belt- I really love it..and the studs are not glued on like most cheap belts), Blazer: Talulah (not wearing it but its in the background and its what I wore over as a jacket)

Off to watch 2012, I’ll let you guys know what I thought tomorrow! xoxo

Book of Shadows

IMG_6563IMG_6568IMG_6570

I wasn't going to post today BUT couldn't wait to show you guys my latest addition = Urban Decay’s book of Shadows! This is a steal for anyone looking for bright and punchy colours to add to their collection…or even looking for a travel set (comes with the primer …just bring your own mascara ;) ..since it comes with two AMAZING eyeliners that glide on so easily and last all day (great for the waterline because they are waterproof).

It comes with 16 shades (7 are limited edition) and I can honestly say there are no “fillers”…they are all gorgeous colours….my faves are AC/DC, Half Baked, and YDK. The packaging isn't the greatest because the drawer is a little hard to pull out ….and the inspiration book is a neat addition (but comes with no instructions…UD you reading this? Please! tell us how you CREATED these looks…don't just throw in the book to tease us!…its inspirational I guess) I would have preferred a more durable casing but still could not deny what a great deal this was (considering when you break down the cost it ends up working out to about $3 per eye shadow …and this is not including the liners and primer potion)

Putting this baby to work tomorrow morning ;) Neutrals of course….for work! and I'm off to watch One Tree Hill (while sipping back some creamy milk Hot Chocolate)….my little ritual…almost the season finale …booo

P.s. If you guys like makeup posts….I might do a few more with favourite products of the moment and simple looks that I like to do

It's not how many times you say I love you

IMG_6504IMG_6451 IMG_6458 IMG_6466 IMG_6482

I found this Silence and Noise dress at Value Village for $4! Pretty awesome….I love finding next to new pieces at thrift store prices…actually I have not been thrifting in a little while (cutting down after coming to the stark realization that I barely have any more room to fit it all!). I will definitely still be browsing….just be a LOT more selective

Still wearing the tights….I have a feeling that these will soon become a staple in my wardrobe ;) Love them so much and for $5…form Wal-Mart…yes, Wal-Mart….I am a happy little camper

Many things coming up in the next little while that excite me: girls night/2012/Dress fittings/Lady Gaga/Dress fittings/Work trip/packing/vacation!!!!!!!/6 months engaged as of November 16/

On a side note…..I made the yummiest soup yesterday and just HAD to share the recipe with you guys because 1. It tastes amazing (didn't have any complaints!) 2. Its healthy and 3. Pretty foolproof …the hardest part was peeling the butternut squash (I thought I might chop my fingers off! so be careful)

Here goes: my (well not MINE technically but you know what I mean :P) first recipe to the blog (got it from J’s mom)…I might include one every now and again because lately I have really gotten into the joy of cooking…experimenting a lot!

Curried Butternut Squash Soup (you can use pumpkin too)

2 tsp Olive Oil / 1 onion, chopped/ 3 cloves of Garlic, finely chopped (I added 5 cloves)/ 1 tbsp Curry paste or powder/ 1 good size diced peeled Butternut Squash (mine was 3 and half pounds…use 4 pounds preferably)/ 4 cups of Vegetable Stock, chicken stock or Water (or mix half water and half stock …what I did)/ Salt to taste / 2 tbsp (25 ml) toasted sliced almonds (optional)

1. Heat the oil in a saucepan on medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook for 5-8 minutes or until tender. If mix starts to burn then add a little water.

2. Stir in curry paste and cook for 30 seconds.

3. Add squash and cook for a few minutes. Add the stock and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and cook gently for 30 minutes.

4. Puree the soup until smooth. Return to heat and thin with some water if necessary. Add salt if necessary.

5. Sprinkle almonds on top (optional)

I would LOVE to know any recipes you guys recommend so I might try out at home! (maybe paste a link from an online recipe?)

Off to watch One Tree Hill and sip some hot cocoa make with milk....I have gotten into this bad habit right before bed....puts me right to sleep (Timothy's brand Hot Chocolate is one of my faves)...

Bordeaux

IMG_6436 IMG_6395 IMG_6425

I know I have been “absent” for a short while. Busy with early Christmas shopping, birthdays, work and more work, meeting with friends for Starbucks runs, reading, writing, theatres, dinners and well….life in general! This morning started off with some raisin toast and cream cheese and coffee (woke up extra late today)…then decided I need to reorganize…again! When I was looking through the mama’s closet (we were both sorting through out things and doing a “winter cleaning” if you will)….I remembered this jacket by Elie Tahari that she picked up at Holt Renfrew Last Call for a massive discount price of $60 I think? It reminded me of the lip colour I have been obsessed with lately which is Bordeaux by Rimmel. I picked it up at Shoppers a while ago for $3…I think Rexall is having a sale on a lot of items as well…I just recently discovered NYX which I previously could only find in the US!

Also loving Urban Decay’s Smoke out pencil- I would not recommend this as a regular liner but for those who want to achieve a smoky powdered eye shadow look without the complication (its a lot more precise…then you just smudge it out with the tip).

well…I am off to watch a movie and go for some coffee with the lovely fiancĂ©es parents ;) …check back as I will have some more outfit posts for you guys soon! Hope you all had a great weekend! xox

Blazer: Elie Tahari, Skirt: UB (had a stretchy leather like waist band…. I love it…and love the fact that it was $20 even more!), Top: Talulah, Blue dress shirt: Thrifted, Tights: Wal Mart, Shoes: Urban Outfitters, Necklace: F21, Bag: Topshop

A few that are new

IMG_6374IMG_6367 IMG_6375IMG_6361

Sorry for the lack of outfit posts BUT I do have a few new things to show you guys! I picked up this awesome little decorative jewellery rack at Winners a couple days ago for $12 (my tea cup saucers were getting way too cluttered!). Also got a surprise in the mail from My Name Necklace which came in that beautiful little blue box in the second picture. Can’t wait to show you guys….it is basically my name on a gold chain in script writing =) Oh and forgot to show you the newest addition to my ceramic vintage animal collection – my lion! As you can see I like to rearrange the things in my room a lot (I get bored)

Also picked up a few bras and lace underwear for a total of $28! Winners has really great deals on lingerie and hosiery. The brand of the undergarms is Blush which I find makes some really great quality affordable pieces (well if you buy them at Winners at least)

Also still trying to get used to these glue on nails that I got from the Runway Revlon collection (they're beautiful….I just feel like everything takes so much more effort…simple little things like pulling the zipper up on my jeans or even washing my hands). We will see if I can get used to them

Be back soon!! Thank you for all your sweet comments on my Lady Gaga costume…Now it is countdown to the concert here in Toronto (featuring Kid Cudi ..yess)

Happy Halloween!!!

Vintage dress-modified-Lady Gaga-cold weather- blue fur jacket- tons of friends-pre-drinking-house party-Cab rides-hall party-Little Wayne- Madonna- old ladies-babies-vodka orange-vodka cranberry-beer-rum and coke- dance- laugh- dudes fighting outside- dudes hugging and fighting- us watching- hot dog vendor- drive home- sleep.

My bolt sucked- I'm not the greatest artist as you can see :p …but the DIY dress turned body suit came out great i think! It was the one I picked up on Queen street for ten dollars and modified it so that it fit tighter and cut it into a bodysuit (put elastics around the legs). I also made the hair bow using pre-packaged synthetic hair, a plastic head band and a glue gun. The glasses were purple 80s pair from Value Village that I painted black and added sparkles to.

Had a lot of fun with friends who came up with some really creative and hilarious outfits!! We had everything from Super Mario to the Flintstones ;) good times!

I might have some more pictures of the actual party for you guys soon! If so, I will add them to this post

xox

update: pictures I pulled off face book …haha
