If no one will buy you flowers, buy them for yourself

IMG_6856 IMG_6859 IMG_6865

J and I both had the day off today … We started off the day by eating breakfast at The Purple Onion on Bloor Street (cute place and great prices) … eggs, bacon, ham, eggs, toast and coffee are a great start to MY day ;) … We had to return a few things at Winners …where I ended up picking up the Lolita Lempicka perfume that I have been WANTING so bad for $25!! It is the Forbidden Flower perfume and comes in a green apple bottle…OMG! This is my new love…seriously…. it verges on Vera’s territory …and we all know how much I love that perfume ….mmm vanilla….

Speaking of Vanilla… I am currently typing in my room…aka…Humble abode… and smelling the wonderful scent of my vanilla candle that i just picked up at Wal mart for $2 …pack of 15…pretty sweet if you ask me!

J and I also stopped by Kensington market so that he could pick up a few things that he needed… I then had the brilliant idea of passing by the Toronto Art Gallery …I am obsessed with all things ancient and Egypt and they have a great display going on right now…well apparently I am not the only one in Toronto who thinks this is an AWESOME idea….because it was all SOLD out … =(

Made our way back home where I helped my future mama in law shop for a new winter coat (and successfully found) , bought some last minute party food/drinks and had a nice cappuccino with fries (I know, oddball combo …haha)

Ps. It was FREEZING today in Toronto ... and this jacket is really standing up to the test! Its warm and chic ...which is hard to find in a puffy jacket...and now I can quit "borrowing" mama's!

To top off the day I am finishing up with a warm vanilla bath …candles (vanilla..) of course… and some late night sushi (my food of choice!)… the salad is pretty much finito so….umm…whatever is left over … probably while watching The Craft … its been a while…and when I say a while…I really mean a few weeks :p

Wishing you (my lovelies) a sweet night … xox

I follow the Music

The day after boxing day….what a rush….literally…the madness … I passed by the mall to look for a professional hairdryer (and successfully found for $35 …1875 watts)…I also picked up these Sporto rubber and leather shoes with the idea in mind that I will be needing them while in Europe next month… it will probably be raining … They were regularly almost $100 and I picked them up for $25. I thought they were sweet looking and very practical …

Yesterday J and I met up with a bunch of friends for a post-Christmas dinner… we went to this trendy Portuguese restaurant owned by our friends cousin. I might post some pictures soon…we ate a lot of calamari, caldo verde (my fave soup) and us girls easily polished off a bottle of white wine. We went out with the same people that we will partying with for New Years …it will be a CRAZY time … I have a lot of things to look forward to in the New Year and am blessed with a lot of special people in my life to share it all with!

I am off to watch August Rush with Keri Russell and Jonathan Rhys Myers …and of course….drink up some milk hot chocolate with marshmallows before this winter season passes me by in the blink of an eye…

This Christmas …

DSC03457DSC03463DSC03472

The Christmas craziness is over…. and I miss it already… haha…I just finished watching Miracle on 34th street (its a tradition…to try and watch as many holiday movies as I can during the Christmas season :p).

Yesterday (Christmas Eve) I went to my Uncle’s house for a Christmas get-together with my immediate family (there are a LOT of us…I have 14 cousins just on my mothers side!). It was a FULL house and as usual, a great family get-together. Every year we do little skits, re-enactments, holiday karaoke, and a little “Christmas play” that my mom usually coordinates (and we film every year). Ate a ton of food of course consisting of crab, mussels, turkey, codfish (Portuguese tradition), wine, etc and of course…sweets and coffee to top it all off!

Christmas Day is always spent at my house…where we open our presents in the morning (first picture above)… then have a Christmas lunch which ALWAYS includes Turkey (second picture) and after that we always go to my aunt’s house to visit her and my grandfather (on my dad’s side). I finish off the night by spending Christmas night at J’s house with his family.

Well, I guess its onto the gifts :p

As usual, my loved ones spoiled me ….

I got CD’s (Stereophonics and The Velvet Underground), Clothes (two dresses- one BCBG and one Marciano), some plaid shirts (studded and ruffled), a zippered F21 leopard dress, lots of jewellery including a silver chain and beaded necklace, Birks necklace from J which reads “Live, Laugh, Love” and has a tiny center diamond, Tiffany Earrings and bracelet, Aromatherapy gift set (so neat), Boots from Browns shoe store, black puffy BCBG jacket (first picture..Maxi, my dog, seems to like it!), and the game Scrabble =)

Hope you all have a wonderful Holiday Season! I have a few days off work which is nice (this is sort of a mini-vacation for me!) and next up: New Years!!

5 days to Christmas

Yesterday my fiancĂ©e J, a couple of our good friends and I went to watch the new James Cameron movie Avatar (hence the IMAX 3D glasses in the last pic ;) … we bought the tickets in advance, have been looking forward to it all week and started lining up about an hour and a half before the movie started (the line-up was HUGE). I opted for a comfortable cashmere look….my new soft cashmere scarf and cashmere coffee coloured pull over from Club Monaco (that I picked up at Value Village). Super warm, super soft and makes for a super comfortable experience at the theatre. I was a little apprehensive about watching it in 3D because I usually start to feel nauseous…BUT let me tell you….if there is one movie you ever watch in 3D….make it THIS one! WOW is all I have to see….the graphics did not disappoint!…it was definitely worth the $20 each price tag and all the hype surrounding it… LOVED it and will be buying it when it comes out for purchase.

It is Sunday now and it feels like the weeks are just flying by! I have not done an outfit post because I keep forgetting to take some damn pictures for you guys… (maybe later today) …but to be honest, I have not been in an “outfit post” mood lately…my mind is all on Christmas and just enjoying some time with family and friends right now… I have a potluck on Monday with my girlfriends for a little Christmas dinner post exams…

I just finished wrapping all of the Christmas presents…drinking coffee (in my Cinderella mug :P) and going to eat my morning coffee cake with my little Maxi (look at him all relaxed in the pictures…haha…he is a natural!) ..going to go shopping with the Papa today (which is not a fun thing to do during this nutty time of the year…people become savages when parking, shopping etc) …Hopefully going to watch the Grinch movie later on with J (Did I tell you that is one of my FAVOURITE Christmas movies??!!)

I also cant WAIT to see my family on Christmas…It is the ONE day I get to see absolutely everyone (cousins, uncles, aunts etc) and I don't know if I have told you guys…But I come from a HUGE family…so the house will be PACKED =) and I LOVE it….

Be back soon!! Love you guys…. XOX

Happy Birthday Papa

DSC03370DSC03367DSC03361DSC03365

Hey beautiful people! So today was another hectic day before Christmas … work and then had to pick up a few things for my papa’s birthday … got him a yummy cake from a Portuguese bakeshop (it was fluffy and light- strawberries and whip cream)… Picked up the movie “The Hangover”, a shaving set and some chocolates that he loves… after our little mini celebration…did a little more wrapping for work tomorrow …  tidy up my hurricane of a room….organized all my receipts into a little file folder (thrilling huh? :P) and NOW I get a little ME time ;) … Reading my new Watchmen graphic novel (aka Comic…but a longer and more detailed) that my friend gave me for Christmas… and working on finishing up my novel “Love the one you're with” by Emily Giffin….and of course….hot chocolate in the mug (made with milk…wouldn't have it any other way!)

Thought I would also share some new things I have picked up….Winners had a bunch of CAKE products (Canadian brand sold at Sephora) which smell delicious….I got the limited edition sets for $10!! They were selling for a LOT more at Sephora a little while ago… I am obsessed with the brand Cake….it is literally like sweets for your skin… I also picked up that embellished Linda Lundstrom cardigan at Value Village for $5 AND new books to add to my little shelf (I have a LOT more books…these are just the ones I'm currently into) which is “The other Boleyn Girl” and “Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures””.

AND just ordered my 3D Imax tickets for Avatar this weekend =) … I cant WAIT to watch it… I have been looking forward to it for a little while now … I'm sure James Cameron will NOT disappoint!

Countdown to Christmas Day!

‘Tis The Season My Loves

DSC03358DSC03354 DSC03355 DSC03356

I just got home from doing some MORE Christmas shopping … man oh man do I hate venturing out into malls or any sort of shopping area during this time of the year….everyone is just so hyper, ruthless, in a hurry and the list goes on! I waited in one of the longest line ups I have EVER waited in today … BUT now I am home… I am just about to make a Soy Hot Chocolate, sit down, and start wrapping some gifts….for me, this is the fun part because I like to get creative when wrapping….bows, ribbons, extra add-on’s …this is the fun part ;)

I always wrap my gifts near my Christmas tree and village….something about it just really gets me into the mood! All while listening to my lovely Christmas Harp CD…J hates this CD but I think it sounds so magical…it is probably because there are no words/lyrics! haha ….but that is what gets me into a more relaxed and calm mood amongst all this craziness!!

P.s. remember how I told you guys I am obsessed with costumes and have a crazy little treasure chest full of them?! WELL….I found this little “Candy-Striper”' number at Value Village a little while ago for $3 and thought it would be perfect for Christmas….YES I am one of those “nuts” who dresses up in Santa hats and red sweaters at Christmas time…and this little skirt…no exception ;)

During this time of year its REALLY hard for me to do outfit posts…Christmas, Vacation, I'm booking ANOTHER trip, and so many other things right now …so I hope you understand….I love you all…I love my anons who keep messaging me for more :P… I love your feedback…comments…well wishes…I just LOVE YOU all!! jeeeebs ….can I write it enough??!!

I might post a few more vacation pictures once I get all of them organized =) AND will try to get an outfit post to you guys this weekend …. I will most likely be doing more Christmas-y posts because….well….Its one of my favourite holidays

I hope Santa is good to ALL of you this year ….

off to drink my  Hot choco <3

Back from the Bahia

   IMG_0510IMG_0422 IMG_0443 IMG_0502 IMG_0598IMG_0610IMG_0652

So I am back from my trip to the Dominican… We stayed at the Bahia Principe which was a beautiful hotel…..my only complaint…it was WAY too huge (took us a couple of days just to figure the place out)… The shows were a lot of fun…Michael Jackson was AWESOME…if you ever go there, make sure you watch that show….I felt like I was at an actual Michael Jackson show… We ate a lot… choco banana’s were my drink of choice…went dune buggy-ing, parasailing (and got dropped in the water going 45 km/hour….it hurt)… went to Imagine….a club in an actual cave (bats and all)….it was awesome…you can see in the pics above..bar tenders blowing fire from their mouths!…. the outside of the club looked like a castle..it was like nothing I have ever experienced….read a lot on the beach (Love the One You're with….great read so far)….we also swam in a cave (super clear water) and watched how natural coffee was produced….also realized that I packed WAY too much and wore only half of it….I wore tanks, shorts and my bikini’s mostly!… Karaoke almost every night before the disco…..drunk singing is the best singing :p….haha…and basically had one big hell of a party with two other couples….met a lot of people from all over the world….Portugal, Russia, the US, France, Canada and DR …. I am currently sick ….again….the weather change….I was perfectly fine in the DR… so…here we go again…and its back to work….I am off to get a Tim Horton’s coffee…. I am in desperate need….haha

Hope you all had a great week!! xox

Goodbye Lovelies

IMG_0250

I am off on a short vacation to the tropics…. I will be back in a week =) Today consisted of stopping into work for a few hours, last minute shopping, getting over the fact that I was almost a few grand in the hole because we thought J lost his passport (the day before our flight), hair appointment (goodbye rootage), and packing up! The leopard Diane Von Furstenburg luggage was a sale find from Winners. It was regularly some ridiculous amount like $400? I picked it up for $35!! and the little carry-on (cute pink lining) was picked up at Value Village for $10. See you soon! (p.s. Like my nail colour? New fave by Essie called Pink Parka …also from Winners)

Best I ever had

31 4   5

These photos were taken a little while ago which I forgot to share with you guys…perfect timing to find them on my desktop :P I really love that faux fur  jacket that I picked up at Value Village… it was $25 I think? has gorgeous, mint condition orange coloured lining and mid length sleeves…it is VERY warm..the yellow top/dress was given to me by my godmother a year ago and I have never worn it…this is the first time! These boots….well no comment, because you guys all know how it is when I get it in my head that I love something….:s

First off, I want to thank my readers who have stuck by me from the start of this blog to now and until whenever or as long as this blog is “alive”… I will begin by explaining yet again as to why I am not posting regularly because I have been getting emails/comments in regards to this.

For one, I have been sick (I am still sick) and am trying my best to recuperate, especially considering I have a flight in a few days, so obviously getting a post up has not been my main priority. Secondly, It is winter and yes, I live in Canada where it gets pitch black by 5pm….which is precisely the time I leave work …which means it becomes very difficult to take pictures (unless they are indoors) and I go into a bit of a “hibernation” mode if you will…

I am flattered that some of you miss my regular everyday posting and that you would like to see more; I will be trying out other means to post more often (i.e. take more photos on the weekend for you guys rather than just one outfit), but please keep in mind that although I love my blog and all of you… I also have other priorities, setbacks and just regular life that might keep me from posting as often as I would like to! If you want to read other blogs….by all means! haha….I won’t think you are “cheating on me” …I promise :p…regardless, I love that you guys come back (and hope you do) and I love those of you that take the time to comment

When I start my packing, which should be in a couple of days I will be doing another post…probably on how damn hard it is to downsize when you have SO many clothes ….what to bring, what not to bring, makeup etc..  yay to lying on the beach in a few days and soaking in the sun…gawd knows that my pasty ass needs it…and hopefully by then this nasty cough/cold that I have will be out of my life so I can fully enjoy it all

I am off to drink some more ginger tea, take some meds (yay), get lots of rest and then take a relaxing warm bath…. See you soon =)
